  1. Mandatory 4-H Volunteer Training is January 19 at Canter's Cave; register now

    ALL volunteers need to plan to attend the annual mandatory 4-H Volunteer Training on Tuesday, January 19 from 6-8 p.m. at Canter's Cave 4-H Camp. This is a state mandated training again this year for all 4-H volunteers.

    Any 4-H volunteers who can not attend this training should contact the Extension Office about scheduling a makeup training. Pizza will be served at the event compliments of the 4-H Advisory Council. Please have someone RSVP to the Extension Office for your club so we have an idea of how much pizza to order.

  3. 2015 Winter Project Fair

    It’s 4-H project season, once again.

    Returning 4-H youth and volunteers, or anyone interested in joining the program, can get a head start on the new year by taking part in the first-ever Winter Project Fair, which is set for 3-6 p.m. January 11 at the Jackson County OSU Extension Office.

  4. Extension Office Holiday Hours

    The Jackson County OSU Extension office will close at noon Thursday, December 31 (New Year's Eve) and will resume normal office hours on Monday, January 4. Regular office hours for the Jackson County office are 9:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

  5. Ohio Department of Agriculture lifts bird exhibition ban

    REYNOLDSBURG – With no confirmed cases in Ohio and no immediate threat of a Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza  (avian flu) outbreak, Ohio Agriculture Director David T. Daniels and State Veterinarian Dr. Tony Forshey today rescinded the order prohibiting bird shows in Ohio.  Officials urge poultry and bird owners, however, to remain vigilant and cautious in order to protect the health of their flocks during migration seasons.  Please see the department’s fact sheet on precautions that can be done to prevent the spread of avian flu.

  7. 4-H Ski Trip is February 14

    The annual 4-H Ski Trip, which had  been postponed due to a lack of snow, will now take place Sunday, February 14.

  8. Steer weigh-in is January 16

    Steer weigh-in for Jackson County Junior Fair exhibitors will be held from 8-10 a.m. Saturday, January 16, 2016 at the Jackson County Fairgrounds in the Show Arena. Please note this particular date is later than usual, as steer weigh-in has typically been held during the month of December.

    Steer weigh in is an important step in the junior fair process, held each year to establish possession of animals and determine initial weights that will eventually be used to determine rate-of-gain.
