What is a 4-H Volunteer? 

Volunteers and parents help make 4-H possible. Without 4-H volunteers and parents the program would not have the mentors and leaders that 4-Hers need in order to learn the new skills that 4-H has to offer youth. With each volunteer comes knowledge, experiences, and skills which can be taught to 4-H youth and shared with the 4-H program "to make the best better." Volunteers and parents are a major reason for 4-H's success in youth development. Ohio 4-H works with a variety of individuals, with differing interests, skills and abilities, as 4-H volunteers. Since 1902, parents and volunteers have helped the 4-H program develop successful leaders, build young minds, and set the path for 4-Hers to take the world by storm.

4-H Volunteers must adhere to the Ohio State University Extension Volunteer Selection Policies & Procedures.

  • Thursday, November 14th, 2024 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Canter's Cave 4-H Camp.
  • Saturday, January 18th, 2025 at the Jackson County OSU Extension Office. 
    • NEW 4-H Volunteer Orientation & Training: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
    • Annual 4-H Volunteer Make Up Training: 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM
  • Thursday, January 30th, 2025 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Jackson County OSU Extension Office. 
  • Saturday, February 15th, 2025 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM at the Jackson County OSU Extension Office.
